  Gold Star Mew     You may have noticed that I have decided to showcase pieces instead of cards. This is due  to  having a few items that are more memorabilia. The collection does not simply consist of cards but rather is an amalgamation of varying aspects of collecting. This first piece is one that sums up why I  have the collection that I do.       The Mew Gold Star that currently resides in my collection is there for both it's monetary and  sentimental  value. This is a card that I remember vividly and am lucky to have it in a Mint 9 condition.  I've had this card for over half of my life and remember the day that I got it. It was a simple trip to Wal- Mart with my then stepfather and mom. After a dry run of unsuccessfully begging my mom for cards,  she finally gave in and I was given a tin of 4 packs. The tin in question was likely one of the ones I still  have and use for storage, though I don't know ...

Nerd Closet     I've started this blog in order to have an archive of my collection that I have amassed over the years  through various methods and to tell the stories of how it has come to be. The name comes from how  ashamed I was throughout high school and college of card collecting. The stigma behind cards is  extremely negative and it is assumed that you are a lesser person than those that have more mainstream  hobbies. I have kept this part of my life a secret from family members and friends with few exceptions  but recently I shared my rather robust collection with a friend that had just an inkling of how passionate I  am about pieces of cardboard.       From this experience, I have discovered how liberating it can be to express yourself freely without the  worry of judgement and abandonment. I hope that by sharing the stories of my collection, I can inspire  new and old generations to look at their collections...
